WHICH COUNCILS HAVE DECLARED A CLIMATE EMERGENCY?

As of 1 January 2020 there have been 84 Australian Councils who have declared a Climate Emergency. They are listed at the bottom of this page.

PLANS OF COUNCILS WHO HAVE DECLARED A CLIMATE EMERGENCY

Six inner Melbourne councils had declared a Climate Emergency on 1/1/2020.

Darebin City Council was the first Australian Council to declare a Climate Emergency on 5 Dec 2016. Here is an outline of their plan. An 118 page PDF will automatically download by clicking on Darebin Climate Emergency Plan. There is also this 8 page summary of the plan.

Yarra City Council declared a Climate Emergency on 7 Feb 2017. This is their announcement and here is a PDF of their 48 page Yarra Climate Emergency Plan.

Moreland City Council declared a Climate Emergency on 12 Sep 2018. Here is an introduction to their plan and here is a 31 page PDF of their Zero Carbon Moreland action plan 2020-2015.

Melbourne City Council declared a Climate Emergency on 16 Jul 2019. Here is their announcement and here is their 30 page PDF that called “Inquiry into Tackling Climate Change in Victorian Communities” which describes what they plan to do.

Port Phillip City Council declared a Climate Emergency on 18 Sep 2019 but is yet to release their plan.

Bayside Council declared a Climate Emergency on 17 Dec 2019 and has published this list of actions you can take. Bayside Council’s Climate Emergency Plan has a budget of $80,000 to prepare and is due to be released in October 2020.
