The PECAN EcoBlog is a collection of posts on the PECAN website where people can find science-based information about environmental issues and activities that are relevant to the City of Port Phillip and its surrounds.
We invite people to submit relevant articles for the blog. We strongly recommend that writers conform to the following guidelines for articles that they submit for addition to the website.
Title | Have a concise and informative title |
Lead-in sentence | Follow the title with an engaging lead-in sentence to entice readers to read the complete article |
Lead-in image | Supply a relevant attractive image to orient readers about the topic of the blog article; it should be smaller than 500 x 1,000 pixels; it should not be copyrighted. |
Article Formatting | Should be submitted as a Microsoft Word document that uses the standard default text and heading styles and formatting. |
Article Content | Written in well-structured English that flows logically and coherently. Information presented as facts should be supported by in-text Web links to reputable information sources as appropriate. Typical articles are 500-1,000 words. |
Content images | Images should be included sparingly, and should each be smaller than 500 x 1,000 pixels, and should not be copyrighted. Images should be located logically within the Microsoft Word text file, as separate paragraphs. |
Author | Every blog article should have a named author, at the end of the article in a separate paragraph. |
Reference list | Articles may include a short bibliography after the author |
Footnotes and Endnotes | Should be avoided. |
