A free seminar to consider the costs of coming climate changes, especially flooding and sea level rise in Port Phillip. These pose huge financial and other challenges for Local Government Authorities and highlight the need for a National Climate Adaptation Fund

Speakers

  • Rod Campbell, Research Director, The Australia Institute, will talk about his report on climate adaptation costs. Rod is also a local St Kilda West resident.
  • Mitzi Tuke, Nillumbik Climate Action Group, will also speak about their advocacy with Nillumbik Council to support a national climate compensation fund to help councils and local communities to meet the costs of climate impacts.
  • Alex Makin, Mayor, City of Port Phillip, will discuss the specific issues and challenges that our local council is addressing.

This event is jointly organized by the Port Phillip Emergency Climate Action Network and the Port Phillip EcoCentre.
